Precipitated Barium Sulphate is an important fundamental chemical raw materials. Because chemically it is of inertness, good stability, acid and alkali-resistant, moderate hardness, high brightness, high gloss and fine ability of absorbing harmful x and γ-ray, precipitated barium sulfate is recognized as an environmentally friendly functional material.
Our Barium Sulphate Precipitated is produced with advanced production techniques, processed with phiscal and chemical means, has good whiteness, high purity dispersibility and compatibility.
As it is able to absorb X-ray and endowed with high density and surface finish, the material is widely used in such industries as paints, printing ink, coatings, plastics, rubber, chips, friction plate, ceramics, glass, electronics, cosmetics, pharmacy and food etc.
Its basic chemical information is as below:
Molecule: BaSO4
CAS No.: 7727-43-7
Molecular Weight: 233.39
Mohs Hardness: 3-3.5
Specific Gravity: 4.0-4.6
HS Code: 2833270000
Application
Barium Sulphate Precipitated is mainly used in and for the following industrial fields:
- As a weighting agent for drilling fluids in oil and gas exploration, with function of cooling drilling head, reinforcing well walls and controlling oil or gas pressure thus to stablize the production and prevent blowout.
- Used to fill in coatings and paints as alternative to higher prices of raw material such as precipitated barium sulfate, lithopone, titanium dioxide and activated silica, with adapatbility to control the viscosity of paint and to make final product colorful shinning and well stable..
- Used as filler in ABS plastics to make product bright and shinning with good ability of strength, stiffness and abrasion.
- Used for the rubber industry. Barite powder with 500 mesh minus can be applied extensively for rubber as a filler, able to reduce costs and improve hardness, acid resistance and water resistance, etc., and it has good reinforcing effect for natural rubber and synthetic rubber.
- Used in paper industry. Barite powder with high fineness can be applied to be filler or coating filler for white paper and copperplate paper in order to enhance whiteness and improve surface coverage.
